Description: ABSTRACT:
This paper will examine how urban design might be defined, and how the current confusion of architectural and elemental approaches might be reformed as theorists develop the capacity to look directly at relationships between people and the city. Given that our relationships with built environments have a specific reality, the paper will explore how that reality might be understood in terms of configurations of urban space and fabric, and associated human functions relating to simple use, perception, and the conceptual responses through which we distil meaning.
