Abstract: | Questions have long been asked concerning children and sex education: What do they know, what do they need to know, how best to teach them, who should teach them and how does the advent of HIV and AIDS change some of these answers? 'Old Enough to Know' is a summary of a study of children's sexual knowledge and its interaction with formal schooling and the community. The enquiry was undertaken in three African countries, Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa. It involved using photovoice, video and interviews with young people in primary schools. |
