Description: The Institute of Criminology holds an annual international conference on Evidence Based Policing, Chaired by Professor Lawrence Sherman in association with the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) and the Society for Evidence Based Policing (SEBP).

The 5th conference was held at the Sidgwick site at the Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge, on 9-11 July 2012.

Abstract: Sir Peter Fahy has been Chief Constable of Greater Manchester since September 2008. He previously served in four other forces and was Chief Constable of Cheshire for five years. He holds national responsibility within the Association of Chief Police Officers for workforce development and is Director of the Strategic Command Course at the National Police Leadership College Bramshill. He is a strong promoter of police and wider public sector reform and has been a school governor for 25 years. He grew up in the East End of London and holds a degree in French and Spanish from Hull University and a masters from the University of East Anglia. He was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal in 2004 and received a Knighthood in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2012. He is married with four children.
