Question: What does the Academic Division do?

I think the easiest way to understand what the Academic Division does is to know that the Head of the Academic Division, the Academic Secretary, is Secretary to the General Board of Faculties, which we all know as the General Board. And the General Board is one of the main committees of the University, main decision making bodies of the University. It covers educational policy and resources needed to implement that policy. The General Board itself has a lot of sub-committees. One of them I’m secretary of, The Committee on the Membership Committees which sounds like a joke but actually is all about monitoring people on committees. These people are academics after all and they have got other jobs to do. I try to make sure they are not over-burdened in their committee work.
