Abstract: When a politician or prominent public figure is assassinated, there are two possible explanations: lone assassin or conspiracy. Signs of mental instability on the part of the assassin obviously tip the scales in favour of the former option. A subsequent assassination arouses, by contrast, suspicions of a conspiracy, particularly when the details surrounding the first assassination remain murky.
